Kindly review our team values and the tasks you are about to face before joining our Revenue Monster developer family.

• We want to know if you are serious about the application. Check out our website to get a general gist of what we do before you proceed. Give it a real good thought if this is something that would interest you for at least 2-3 years. Life is short, do what you love.

• Are you willing to constantly keep up with the latest technology and work with open sourced technology? We consider ourself as a new technology hub in Malaysia.

• The task examines your programming styles and your sense of design. We love to write beautiful code and build awesome looking applications.

• The task examines your understanding of basic API programming or basic front end development.

• We will discuss about the small app during our interview about coding styles, thoughts behind designs and get to know you better.

• Don’t be afraid. It’s a learning opportunity, you could still use it as a portfolio regardless the outcome of the interview. :)

Once you have made your decision, complete one of the tasks below:

Movie App Task (Frontend)

Requirements:

• You may choose to build (hybrid/native) mobile application or web application.

• Choose any frontend framework (React, Svelte, Vue, Flutter, ReactNative etc). For React Native and Flutter, you only have to make it work for either iOS or Android. (Of course completing both would be a bonus)

• For Native app development, you only have to make one platform (Android/iOS)

• Use developer API from The Movie DB to retrieve photos for your Movie App. You could retrieve any photo you like.

• The outcome of the App UI/UX is in your hands. Make it look nice and clean.

• You are welcomed to use any boilerplate code but please do not simply copy every line. We want to understand your own coding style.

• Submit your code via Github repository link to hr@revenuemonster.my with your name and contact information (So I know who you are.)

• Take your time, it’s not a race. Just don’t make us wait too long :) Typically candidates return their task within a week.

Bonus points for the task:

• Facebook or any OAuth login.
• Make a filter.
• Animation.
• Use a state management framework. For ReactNative, you may use Mobx, Redux or any similar.

Movie API Task (Backend)

Requirements:

• Use any language including Go, PHP, NodeJS, Dart, Kotlin

• Use developer API from The Movie DB to retrieve photos and save those photos in your server. You could retrieve any photo you like.

• Keep the title, description, filename and its original link on The Movie DB of each photo in any data format chosen.

• Handle the json query request from a user to query photo name, description, filename and its orginal link from your data storage.

• Take your time, it’s not a race. Just don’t make us wait too long :) Typically candidates return their task within two weeks.

Bonus points for the task:

• Go or Node.js
• Write testing
